i am buying an amp and two 12 inch subs,  the rating on the amp says that it is 1 ohm stable and produces 900 w with this load ( produces 500 watts with a 4 ohm impedence), the two subs i was looking to buy are 500w 4 ohm dvc, so if i buy this set up will i love up the subs because i am not giving them enough juice? i was planing on wiring them parallel (if my calculations were right this produces a 1 ohm impedence)  to the mono channell amp... but the amps are each 50 watt under powered........
P.S. is there any draw backs to using a lower impedence ? or things i should look out for as to not short out my amp or something.....?
thanks for answers!

Mate you wont notice lacking 50watts of power, its not an audiable difference.

If the amp is rated @ 1 ohm it will hadle it not a problem but usually lower impedance means the amps run hotter (but the amp will be ok cuz its rated for 1ohm usage).

The lower the impedance the more distortion and "dirty signals" there will be (generally), through a subs its not a big deal but for SQ or on front speakers it would be.  Seetup sounds fine to me

Sounds like it will work to me too.  Just out of curiousity, what kind of subs and amp do you have?

Was thinking it was the Kenwood KAC-9152D, went looking for 500w mainstream brand subs with 500wrms on a 12", only came up with the Alpine Type R's

I really like the Kenwood amps...and I had a set of those Type R's this past summer...they have a ton of potential and sound real smooth
