just bought this car and it's got keyless entry & remote start. It's a 5spd and I can't get the dang remote start to work! I had one on my last car (which was also a 5spd) but am wondering if the instructions to engage the system might be different? It could be broken too I suppose. Anyway, the last one I had was a cheap prostart and you had to have the car in neutral, engage the parking break and push the button on the remote etc... I tried it on this one and it doesn't seem to do a thing. I've really got to find an instruction manual for this but I see no brand name. Just a logo with a lightening bolt through an oval. Can anyone shed some light on this?
Please and thank you so much in advance!!!
Mike

Sorry, but it sounds like you are describeing the colour green to a blind person.
A picture is probably worth a thousand word.
Wild guess, but it could be a Powerlink, Powerstart product.
Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it.1997 VW Golf, remote start -- posted image.

I just bought a 1997 VW Golf. I think it’s got a factory alarm(red flashing light on driver’s door beside lock). It’s also got a remote start and keyless entry. Now, when I got the car the remote locked and unlocked the doors. But I couldn’t get the remote start to work.... so I reset thecomputer and reprogrammed the remote but now the doorswont unlock anymore. When I press the button to lock the doors it works but whenI press it again to unlock the doors it just disables thealarm (turns off flashing light) - but won't unlock the doors. How to I tell it to disable the alarm and unlock the doors?
My remote is a CS555 and I’m pretty sure it’s controllinga CS260M unit.
Thanks,
Mike

YOu have to set the system to double pulse unlock. I don't have the 260M installer instuctions so I can't help you on this one.
