Hey guys, I need help with the remote start portion and the option of the rear defrost.

I have all the wiring done and can not get the tach to learn. I used the blue wire at the coil and tested and found about 30ACV. When reading in the install manual I found the parameters to be 1-16 ACV. Is this the problem why I can't get the tach to learn? I tested for voltage at the brain to see if I might have a rip or tear in the wiring from going through the firewall and tested good. Double checked all the connections on the starter wires also. Im thinking I may have to put a resistor in line, it's just a thought? I haven't found anything that might cause a problem, any suggestions are very welcome.

I am also looking for the wire that I can hook my relay up to for the rear defrost to turn on with remote start. If anyone knows please list it.

Thanks - Darin

Forgot to mention, it's a 1998 wagon legacy outback.

Thanks again

Have you tried using the "voltage check feature" instead of the tach wire. I always use the voltage feature on DEI remote starts instead of the tach wire. It saves you time from searching the tach wire and trying to fish it through the firewall.
