1 15'' and 2 10''?

If i were to get one 15 inch sub and two 10 inch subs, and place them in a fiberglass box with the 15 in the center and 10's on both sides, would this sound terrible? what if i made each one a seperate enclosure inside the box? and would i need 2 different amps or just a 4 channel amp?

i would highly go aginst it, making woffers of diffrent sizes and barands ect are not wise.     alot of time it will lead to alot of cancelation issues and poor sound. go with the 2 10's in the proper enclosure, sell the 15 and put the money towards other things you might need 2009 0-1000 Trunk WR 154.0DB 2009 1001+ Trunk WR

If you are planning on crossing them over at the same points, go for it... PERFCTLY doable, with no issues whatsoever. Different crossover points? My take on a question like this is: usually, when the poster asks about mixing different subs/sizes, it's because he has them on hand and wants to put them to use...maybe ebay buys went awry, something like that. Because you also asked about powering these subs, this seems like the case with you as well. I suggest you find an example, already built and put to use, of such an arrangement and listen to it first. If you have already done your homework, what did you think? Was it attractive and did it sound great? Or did it look like a mishmash of leftover components that were mixed together? Did it look and sound like the next greatest thing in car audio, or did it look and sound like somebody should have hired a professional and stayed out of the DIY car audio business? Set your priorities first. Decide how much space you can afford to give up in the car for subs. Decide how much amplification you can afford to provide (and more means an exponential increase in overall costs including extra damping, heavier wiring, larger fusing, better battery, more powerful alternator...you get the picture). If you are truly not the next great inventor to come along, go with a system that is tried-and-true. It is common to see a set of 10" subs, as well as it is common to see a single 15". Each would occupy a pretty fair amount of enclosure space; combined, quite huge, most likely...and not something you'll see on a showroom floor.Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

And why do you believe this statement, specialaudio? Do you think a 15 can't be as "fast" as a 10? Wow! Doesn't understand fuses OR transient response. I'd do some searching on the forum, KNOW the people you are trying to answer AGAINST, well before you place ANY MORE responses here.
