I just bought a volfenhag ZX-8400 amplifier and 2 12" zx-4712 subwoofer's. Due to my lack of knowledge with the wiring and power output of the amplifier, i was looking for the best way to wire these up. Sorry for the lack of spec info on the products, i wasn't positive what was needed. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Scott

The subs are 4 ohm DVC an the amp is 2 channel bridgeable, or 2 ohm stable per channel.  I couldn't find any rms wattage for him as I doubt they are published (just the peak were published).

Wire the subs like this and bridge them on your amplifier.

This will be the only way to wire them since the amplifier is not 1 ohm stable.

I have a Volfenhag Zx-8400. Here are the RMS numbers that I found for them:
Bridged 4ohm: 600w x 1
Bridged 2ohm: Not Stable
Dual 4ohm: 200w x 2
Dual 2ohm: 300w x 2
Dual 1ohm: Not Stable
Peak Bridged: 2000w x 1
Peak 2-Channel: 1000w x 1
When I got my amp hooked up tested for the outputs, this is a little exaggerated, but rather close.
Hope this helps.

sorry, in the above post the last line should be
Peak 2-Channel: 1000w x 2
I also did a little bit of research on the subwoofers, here's the specs that I could find
Subwoofer Specifications:
    * Subwoofer Size   12"
    * Impedance   4 ohms
    * Dual Voice Coil   Yes
    * Peak Power Handling   1000 watts
    * RMS Power Handling   500 watts
    * Woofer Surround   Butyl Rubber
    * Woofer Composition   N/A
    * Sealed Box Volume   N/A
    * Ported Box Volume   N/A
    * Sensitivity   90 dB
    * Frequency Response   N/A
    * Xmax (millimeters)   N/A
    * Top Mount Depth   6-3/10"
    * Cutout Diameter   11-1/10"
I am sure that the RMS power handling is exaggerated a bit, more Volfenhag specs are.

OK.  That confirms what I found when i looked them up.  Your best bet would be to wire them like that diagram I posted above.  It is stable having a 4 ohm load bridged, so that is the only way I see to wire them.

Someone correct me if I am wrong though.

That what I thought, I have too 4ohm DVC subwoofers hooked up to mine at a bridged 4ohm. Get's just about 600 watts, and have never had a problem with noice, or clipping. It's a pretty good sounding amp.
