i was planning on using 2 15 inch l7's in a 9 cube box for street use. i want it to be low and loud. the kind that makes your chest hurt. the box is ported and common. i have it tuned for about 38 Hz based on a l7, but i can always change it for the l5. i am more than likely pushing about 1200 watts into each, maybe more. i dont care much about sq, thats what speakers are for. now should i go 2 or 4 ohm? is there really a difference?whats the likely db's for each sub?

what amp or amps do you plan to use.    If you can really put 1200 to each sub go with the L7.
But what amps are you really considering?
There is no way to estimate the DB output, based off vehicle box design, true output from amps, charging system....it could be anywhere from 135-155
lots of veribles

unfortunately all i have at the moment is a 4000 watt 2 channel legacy. but it works for now. im not sure if its 1200 watts, its just an estimate.

probably not even close to the power it says, your best bet with that amp is the L5's   I dont know if it would even move a pair of l7's to half potential

Hmm....what is that amp fused at?? Hopefully not 20 amps lol
But Legacy is very low quality, overrated amplifiers...I'd do what jeff said and stick with the L5s...I bet that amp couldn't even push one 15L7 to its limit
Sorry but Legacy is just low quality...I would sell it and get something with more REAL power...if you just want spl and you're gonna be more CLEAN power

and the hit?   ok      The 1000/1's would be nice on each L7, I just dont have the spare money to spend on anything but kicker gear..I have to keep my car upheld to hopefully get a little further this year

You didn't answer the question, what is the amp fused at?

There is no cheap solution to power, unless you want to buy claims instead of real power (much like you have already purchased)
again the suggestion is out there.   2 L5's would run on a single ZX1500.1
even 2 L7's would run on a ZX1500, slightly underpowered but would run
something that hasnt come up, with 1 or 2 ZX1500's what have you dont to upgrafe your charging system.
The ZX1500 requires 150amps of current. with 2 your looking at 300 amps of current draw well beyond the limits of any factory alternator and beyond many aftermarket alternators
I think you need to take a step back and look at what your gettin into.
The ZX1500 put out 1600-1800 at 14.8-15.1 volts
It will do 700-1000 at 12.4-12.8
you will be lucky to get 700 out of an amp like that with less then 11/10 volts from a non upgraded charging system
So realistically what are you looking to spend all together to get things done with?
