Starter zing on nissans

Just did an 06 Altima and 06 Armada, no 'zing' on either vehicle.

I think it only happens on the eairlier year nissans. 99 - 01MECP certified (If it really means anything)

My 95 Maxima now does this and I cannot figure out why.  When I first tried the remote start, the starter cut-out worked properly, since then I have had to reprogram and cannot get the correct profgramming for the CS290i (not the same as the cs290ic).  Short line... it's all in the wiring....

As long as you keep the starter wires isolated you shouldn't run into this. Are you just tying them both together, or doing something else? It's pretty rare as well usually not an issue. What happens is the 2nd start wire also gets power in the ACC position so when doing a key takeover you get the quick zing.. Mike

If you 5 wire the ignition wire, you won't get the zing. I've only seen it on older Altima's...and Toyota Celicas.

To eliminate the problem you need to install an anti-grind circuit. Use a relay and wire as follows: #85 to the negative out when running wire from the remote starter; #86 to ignition; #87 to the starter wire from the remote start; Cut the vehicles starter wire - #87a to the key side of cut starter wire; #30 to the starter motor side of the cut starter wire. The problem will be fixed and you usually charge the customer a few extra bucks for the added feature, that is if you sell it prior to the installation. Most older Nissan Altimas were known for this as well as some Subarus.sparky
