Hi...I will be installing alarm, remote start w/ doorlocks in a 2001 dodge ram 1500.....

My question is if I am using my trusty old testlight do I have to worry about damaging the computer or setting off the airbags....?

Any other info would help also since I havent had any recent installs with newer vehicles....

Thanks

For the most part the circuit safe test lights are safe but they still pass a little bit of current.  For example they can make the horn honk a little and even on a vehicle such as a 99 chevy impala the test light will pass enough current to crank the engine ( with the key in the run position, vehicle has a computer controlled start).  If there is any reason to worry then the best thing to do is to use a DMM.  They have the possibility to blow an airbag but I doubt that they will cause a computer to blow up.
