A co-worker asked me to install a remote starter into his IS300. I have searched the posts here and see conflicting info about the door locks. Can I just use the lock & unlock wires from the remote starter or do I need the relays or a lock interface module? Also I see that the keysense wire will disarm the factory alarm, is this correct? Is there anything else I need to be aware of on this car?

Thanks,

Ed

i do lots of Lexus and find just using the wires from the unit works fine..... and yes, usually hitting the keysense wire with GWR deactivates the factory alarm.....

theres no special doorlock interface module for it, but must wire w/ relay and diodes. search for direct fax# 1070.
4 door triggers must be isolated.

How about the transponder bypass, I'm considering a TBK5 from bypasskit.com (had great success with them) or an Omega Pass4, any other suggestions?

Thats my problem, I have seen wiring diagrams telling me that I need to do extensive wiring in the doors & others that show just using the lock & unlock wires. I'd like to know which it is before I start the job.

I think it will be fine if you just use the lock and unlock wires and hook them up to the lock unlock wires on the alarm and then instead of using each of the door pins as a trigger just use the domelight as your door trigger and you wont have to diode isolate(If you have a domelight that turns on when you open the doors)

Im not installing an aftermarket alarm, just a remote start, looking to use the remote start to operate the door locks.

yes an extensive wiring, using relay and diodes, must be done for locking and unlking to work.
