I bought a new truck and have been looking over the wiring codes in preperation for installing an autostart. Some of the diagrams say to tap a brown wire on the back of the instrument panel and others say to tap a coil wire in the engine compartment. Which one is easier to do? I don't want to pull the whole dash to access cluster however tapping a coil wire does not seem like a great idea either. Truck is a 2000 tundra v8.

There's a whole bunch of of wires in a handful of plugs, above the gas pedal, on the Sequoia............Tundra is pretty much the same vehicle.......couldn't hurt to try around there.

I am trying to find the door trigger for my 2000 tundra extended cab. The wiring codes on here say WHITE/ blue at drivers door harness. I have tested all of the WHITE/ blue wires I could find with an ohmeter and they were either always grounded or not affected by the door switch (maybe I am testing wrong?). Also I have seen some other places that show the dome wire for tundra to be BLACK/ white but I have not found that wire at the harness.

Im not really sure what to tell ya here. The wire has to be comming out of the door being that the door pin is in the door on that vehicle. As for the dome light wire, pull off the A pilar as the wire should be in that harness running up to the roof. If you dont have delayed domelight than you can use that wire for doortrigger as well. Even if your domelights are delayed you can still use the wire for trigger but you have to wait for the lights to go out before arming unless your alarm reverifies door status after arming. I dont recomend the second.

The door switch is located on the back door and it must run up front but even when looking at the harness on the floor (see bottom of picture) I don't see a WHITE/ blue wire.

Check in the lower harness in your picture as opposed to the one the arrow is pointed at. If the pin is not in the front door but rather in the rear than it wont be in the door harness comming from the front

It is there, don't remember which of the two plugs in the picture, back row, WHITE/ blue. It runs to the light on the inside of the door. Check it with the key on so the light on the door will go out right away.  As for tach wire, go to the coil nearest the brake booster, GREEN/ red...
