Hey Guys,
I searched for this but closest I got was a 04 Mazda 3. Just wondering about a clutch bypass on a 02 Protoge 5. It's got 2 switches on it, upper and lower and each have 2 wires, read once that 1 switch is for Cruise and one is for the clutch. I can't remember the colors of the wires now but the bottom ones are larger in size that the tops, tried everything with these and no luck. Any Help is greatly appreciated as always. Thanks in advance!

the switch for the clutch is the one that tests through the crank position on the key, there is 2 wires for it and you need to use a relay 87 to one wire 30 to the other and either 12volts or ignition can go to 85 and (-) crank or (-) ignition to the 86

hope i could help

There is a white plug with 2 wires in it. BLACK/ blue, and BLACK / YELLOW. Connect your starter wire from your brain to the blk / YELLOW, instead of at the ign. harness!!!

Make sure to monitor your door pins and e brake.....this will start the car in gear, or not!

not to sound condesending, but why would you want to "defeat" the clutch switch? from the sounds of it your going right past the safety aspect of the switch and basically "hotwiring" the starter. i prefer the relay on the clutch because it retains the safety of the switch.....you gotta remeber, if it was your car how would you do it? and regardless of how much a customer knows about their carstarter they are more liable than anybody to accidently start it in gear, chances of that happening are slim to none........but we have all heard the stories of "starters gone wrong"

INSTALL SAFELY!

How else are you going to be able to bypass the clutch. This vehicle uses a type 1 clutch bypass system (+) on th BLACK / YELLOW wire and wiring up the starter wire to this wire properly bypasses the clutch during remote start only. This connector is only used for starting the vehicle while the other connector is used for the cruise and the clutch activation for gear selection. The relay is doing the same thing as the starter wire, just going through a trigger instead of the activation iwre that's all.
The safety of the vehicle to start in gear should be taken care of by the unit itself by detecting the door trigger, hood & the park brake before shut down.

i completly understand where you are coming from.........i meant no dis-respect. i just prefer relays.

i realize your meathod works. and works great. i beleive the cavaliers and sunfires are the same way.

thats what makes this forum so great.......different install styles, and different opinions, it's great because it gives new guys ideas and lets them see whats available.

let's keep up the good work!

You don't need a relay, just don't hook the "start" wire toi the ign. harness, hook it to the clutch wire.
