I have an 02 Trailblazer, installing an Automate(DEI) 7HF Remote Start/Alarm.  Also using the PLDATA and GMDL1 modules.  On the GMDL1, I am supposed to wire the Pink (+ input) to the Grey/Black on the courtesy light, and the Pink/White (- output) to a relay to bypass the door trigger on the brain.  I am wondering if it would be easier (and just as functional) if I went directly from the Grey/Black courtesy light wire to the door trgger on the brain.  My ultimate question is: why does the GMDL1 need to bypass the door trigger in a remote start scenario?

Thanks!

Another question relating to remote start/security install...  There are 2 accy wires on the '02 Trailblazer (brown and orange).  Am I right to only connect only the orange for HVAC?  I was told that the brown was not required by the remote start.

Thanks!

We use the pldata when installing a basic remote, and use the gmdl1,2, 4  when doing the door lock and security interfaze when the customer wants more options.

Most remote starter connections require  the orange wire to b e hooked uo, but if you add the brown wire there will be less trouble lights come on after the initial remote start.

The GMDL is a simple wat to bypass the OBDII system by using only the PURPLE wire at the diagnostics connector to lock & unlock the doors as well as roll up the windows. If you do not have this module you would need to access the BCM ( behind the driver in the  rear seat ) and use relays to control the lock & unlock of the doors. Are you still having troubles with this installation ??

I am still planning the install  :)

My main 2 questions are:

1. Do I need to connect both the brown and orange accessory wires up to the remote start or just the orange for HVAC?

2. Referring to the instructions for the GMDL1 (I already have one): it says to hook up a relay to the pink, pink/white, couresy light, etc. to "bypass the door trigger in remote start situations".  What is the point of this?  Couldn't I just go directly from the courtesy light to the (+) door trigger on the main unit?  Is there some reason that this needs to be bypassed during the remote start process?

Just need some clarification...  Thanks to all!

1.  The orange wire powers the climate controls.  The brown wire is not needed for remote start.

2.  I haven't used the particular modules you're mentioning; I've used the Audivox piece.  With some modules, the interior lights will temporarily come on at the beginning of the remote start process----this would cause your alarm system to go off.

Also, I'll add that even if your Trailblazer has a factory alarm system, it will not trigger under remote start----the remote start process with automatically disarm it, even if you had no module at all.  So, if your module has some scheme of disarming the factory alarm before remote start, which may turn on the domelight, try to just not hook this feature up... it's unnecessary.
