Anyone know how to grab 12V switched for a radar detector in the new 2007 GM's? I went through every fuse in the fuse block and they are all live with the vehicle off.  Help please....

Every wire in the new bodystyle will be either 12volt constant or data. Two things you can do, either run under the hood for power or do like we do and that is use a relay. When we install any video or anything else that requires accessory power we use the brown wire off the igntion switch to throw a relay. The brown wire is only 2 amps so don't use it alone! We power the relay from any fat RED / white in the fuse box....

There is also a pink wire that tests as ignition from the ignition harness.  As stated above, I would use a relay to power up any aftermarket accessories.

Does anyone know if there is an accessory wire behind the radio? Needless to say it would NOT be 12 volts, but a low voltage trigger is inexpensive enough, and I know I've used those on some of the trailblazers that have a 6 volt accessory.

There is no accessory wire on the radio, hasn't been since 2002. The radio is controlled by data link....

Does anyone have a description of how to easily expose the brown ignition wire in the Yukon XL? Or is there another wire at the BCM that is the same and easily found?  Thanks...

It's easy. pull the knee bolster. There's a 10mm holding the brake release in place and 2 screws on the bottom edge. Remove the fuse box cover. Now pop the bolster off. Look up below the steering wheel shroud and you'll see the harness. Unclip it from the white loop holding it up. Slice open the harness(with the key off!) and you will see the brown wire. It will read 12volts on  accessory....

Mike M2 et al:

Thanks a lot for all the help.  I pulled the knee bolster just as you said.  I haven't cut into the harness bundle yet because there is a brown wire with silver bands that tests for igntion that is running outside the bundle.

Would this wire be OK?  Any idea what the black box is that it travels into?  It then exits that black box and goes a few inches to a green plug.  Any idea if I should tap one side or the other of the black box for relay trigger voltage?  Thanks!

I don't know what that wire is but i would definately not use it. Look at the white plug above the brown wire in the photo, close to the column shroud. The harness you need is taped to that plug and is above it. Unclip that black plastic clip just above the white wire tie and pull the white plug down. Cut the tape holding it to the harness an slice the harness open. I believe it will be the only solid brown wire in that harness. It's a thin wire...

Hi.  Well, I didn't see your response soon enough and connected to the brown with silver rings.  Seems to work great - I made sure the relay was very low current.   Let's hope it is not the airbag signal :)

The black box that the brown with silver ring wire goes into (see above) says FUSE on the outside so it is powering something.  If anyone out there can tell me what the heck  I connected to it would be greatly appreciated!  If it is harmless I ddon't really want to go back in there!  Thanks....
