I just installed a Prestige APS787. The car was parked in the driveway and I heard it disarm. Both the remotes were sitting on the kitchen counter. I rearmed the system then a couple of hours later I heard a it arm itself. An hour are so it disarmed itself. I armed it before I went to bed. When I got up this morning I was in the kitchen getting coffe and I heard it disarm. No one was near the remotes during any of these arms/diarms.

Any ideas?

Does the car have power locks and if so does it disarm and the locks unlock or is it just the alarm and not the locks..

It is a 2003 xterra with power door locks.

The doors do lock and unlock when the alarm arms and disarms.

I would first try changing the remote codes. Follow the remote learn process 4 times in a row....

I can not find the remote learn process in ether the install manual or the owner's manual. Any ideas on what it is?

It's a separate manual just for the remotes. The learn routine is

Key on

press valet 3 times- one chirp

Press button 1 on remote- one chirp

press valet once- two chirps

press button two on remote- one chirp

press valet once- three chirps

press button three on remote- one chirp

press valet once- four chirps

press button four on remote- one chirp

key off.

Repeat this 4 times...

I know this may sound silly but which button is which number?

<>

There is lock, unlock, start and option. What order to I use?

<>

Do I do this for each remote for a total of eight times?

Thanks!

You actually don't have to enter the programming mode four separate times. But, you want to fill all four "slots" with the remotes you have, to "kick out" any others that might be programmed.
1. Key on.
2. Valet switch 3x, hear one short chirp. (This means you're about to program Channel 1, which is Lock.)
3. Press Lock on Transmitter 1, hear long chirp. Press Lock on Transmitter 2, hear long chirp. AGAIN,
Press Lock on Transmitter 1, hear long chirp. Press Lock on Transmitter 2, hear long chirp.
4. Valet switch 1x, hear two short chirps (This means you're about to program Channel 2, which is Unlock.)
5. Perform Step 3, but this time with the Unlock button..........and hopefully you get the idea by now. Program Channel 3 as the green Start button, and Channel 4 as Option.
P.S. This makes a LOT of noise. Probably don't want to do it at home at night.
P.P.S. The antenna on the glass is actually its own electronic part. The antenna receives the signals from the remotes, and then sends a data command to the brain telling it what to do.
If reprogramming the remotes doesn't work, it's possible the antenna is bad, or it could be the brain.
If the problem persists, ask the install shop to replace the brain, remotes, AND ANTENNA! I frequently forget the antenna as a source of trouble myself, so that's why I suggest reminding them to replace that, too.

Check your ground.

I have noticed while doing installs that a poor ground has caused Audiovox units to arm and disam by themselves.

Let's try this again.

There is lock, unlock, start and option. What order to I use?
