sub firing direction

I have seen many custom installs with subs nounted into the trunk panels firing towards each other. Does this create any kind of cancellation? Also i once saw a similar install but it was ported into the vehicle cabin. Any advantages to this? ThanksProdigal Son

No. It's all for appearance. The wavelengths produced by subwoofers are SO LONG, that they couldn't ever interfere with one another in the trunk, unless the woofers were wired 180° out of phase.It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

There is a most definite DISadvantage in porting directly into the cabin with trunk-mounted subwoofers.  Open a hole through to the cabin, sure, to let all the sound through.  But just porting into the cabin probably would sound awful.  For best results, fire the ports to the same side as the drivers, no matter which way the enclosures are facing in the trunk.Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.
