Hi,

Here's a diagram of how I hooked up my girlfriend's domelight supervision relay to her alarm.  It works fine.  She unlocks the car, the light comes on for 25 seconds or until she starts the car.  In my car, though, the domelight comes on when I disarm, and shuts off when I start the car (as it should), but then it turns on again when I shut off the car...which I like.  Can I wire her relay to do this, too....or is this related to the alarm?  Her car is a '97 civic.

Thanks!

Hi,

It is a function of the alarm. You could also activate the relay with the unlock output of the alarm but only if ignition activated doorlocks are being used and the car has a domelight delay. If so, you would have to diode isolate it from the doorlock circuit by placing a diode between the OE unlock wire and where you tap off the alarm's unlock wire. Cathode (stripe side) faces the alarm. Without knowing more about the alarm, that's all I can offer. Hope it helps.

Thanks for the reply....yea, I figured it was alarm-related.  Yes, she uses the ignition controlled door locks (it's an aftermarket alarm), but there's no domelight delay.  Oh well, I figured I could just change what triggered it, but I think I'd rather leave it then have to mess more with the door lock wires.

you could use the grounded state of the ignition wire when the key gets turned off to flip a timer relay.
