hey guys, im new to the forum. my name is rj and i work as an installer at circuit city (in AC, NJ). i am currently running a 12" L5 sealed (1.25cuft), 2 pair of KX components and a ZX700.5 (75*4 + 420*1) from a pioneer dehp8600 headunit. all this is in a 03 vw gti.
i plan on keeping my radio and my components and plan to get a 350.4 for to power the highs.
now...i am looking for a sub with a great combo of sq and spl (if there is such thing)... i want it to be a single sub set up, perferably a 12". I want nice clean, deep bass that has a strong kick to it..
what i have thought of so far...
(A) Eclipse SW9122 (sealed at 1.4-1.5 cu.ft) on a Kicker ZX1000.1
(B) JBL GTi MKII (sealed at 1.5-2.0 cu.ft) on a Kicker ZX1000.0
(C) Fi Audio Q (ported at 2.2cu.ft tuned to 30hz) on a Kicker ZX1000.1
(D) Other - your recomendation if not on this list.
Thank you in advance for the help and feedback.

You can knock the Q off your list. NO SQ and NO deep bass. They get real muddy below 40Hz...
If you want great SQ without sacrificing deep bass, check out some TC Sounds drivers. www.tcsounds.com

Blowing up in a car accident doesnt worry me, as long as I'm putting out some major dB's when I die...

The Eclipse is a proven performer in this application. It would be my choice.

i am still in search for my next set of subwoofers. i was going to orig. go with a single sub set up but i want to explore my dual sub options..
i heard that the JBL P1222 (power series 12") is a great sub for a nice mix of sq and spl and only requires 1 cu. ft. per subwoofer (sealed)..
anyone with expirence with or have heard the P1222 from JBL, please leave your review.
also, are jbl subs underrated? the show an rms of 400, can they really handle more?
thanks

looking to compare a few subwoofers...
1. JBL (power series) P1222 (12") est price $150/woofer w/ 400rms
2. Eclipse (alum series) SW8200 (12") est price $200/woofer w/670rms
Looking to get info how much power these subs are really handling compared to the specs that are listed on the website. The best sealed enclosure volume for them. Overall performance and if they are geared more towards sq, spl, or a decent combo.
would be running 2 of either in my 03 vw gti with a solid amp for either pair.
thanks

i am putting together a system for a friend of mine.. its the same car as mine, 03 vw gti. he listens to mostly hardcore music and LOVES bass.   he calls himself a bass head.
i have about 1.5 cu ft, sealed, to work with.   for the extreme, i thought about a 10" solo X with a 2500.1, but i know that will get expensive.
any other ideas?
thanks in advance.
