I need some help choosing a HU. Pioneer is offlimits as is Eclipse(I'm not switching to Sirius). I've looked at Alpine, but the preout voltage is low unless you spend more than I want to. I'd like to stay around $400 and it doesn't have to be fancy. I'd like around 4 volts for the preouts with at least 2 preouts. It has to work with XM also.

Just a question... but why does it matter if the alpine has 2v preouts?

Doesn't a higher preout voltage give a cleaner signal to the amp? Or am I wrong about this?

You could have a preout voltage of .2v and your amp will still get the signal and still be able to reach full power. What I was always told was to make sure the ohm rating is low because thats what matters for a cleaner sound... higher the ohms the more likely it can pick up interferance. Thats how I understand it anyway advice on head unit -- posted image.
