make intermittent wipers moreintermitte

On the slowest setting my wipers have always been too fast, sweeping the windshield about twice as often as would be ideal in a light mist, has anyone done a hack to change the speed of them or make them variable?  I was thinking something along the lines of a dimmer switch under the dash to fine tune it but I'm not sure how these things are wired.

if you got a toyota, check on a higher model of your vehicle w/ variable intermittence wiper switch and swap it out. might be an easier method.Houston,TX
