A backup battery won't really help..it will go low just like the main battery in this case (sitting for a long time) You may need to disconnect the power to the alarm when it is going to sit a long time to remedy this. A "low voltage" situation is not really the same as disconnecting and reconecting it so I don't know if the memory feature will help if your system has it.

if the car sits that long, why not put a trickle charger on it to keep the battery fresh?

or..if the vehicle is parked outside try one of those solar battery saver thingys..you never know if it works you can keep the alarm armed while it sits indefinatly.
