I recently picked up two single voice coil Alpine type S 12's they pound fairly good. After about 5 min of bumpin them ..a nasty smell like "burning" comes from the box(ported)...I've checked all the wires lots of times ..its all correct. I was wondering if anyone knows what else could be causing this problem?..I'm running them at 2 ohms
on my deck there's frequencie options I have it set to 50..and theres a width option (1-4)which makes no audible difference I was wondering if that would have anything to do with it?

What size amp are you using?

It sounds like you are either overpowering them or sending them a clipped signal.
