battery terminals

I'm going to replace the stock battery terminals in my 2004 Tiburon with some aftermarket ones, mainly because when I installed my Optima RedTop, 34/78, I had to bend the stock terminals a bit to get them to fit. It's still a loose fit and looks ghetto rigged, so I'm just going to replace them. I've got 4 positive cables to deal with, amp (8ga), alarm (10ga, I think), and 2 stock cables, I guess one's for the alt, one's for something else. I'm too lazy to go look, but I know they're there. I believe they're both 4ga. Due to the positioning, and lack of flexibility of some of the cables, I plan on connecting one of the stock cables, amp and alarm to the top post, and the other stock one to the side terminal with a side to post adapter. Sounds good so far, I hope. Here's my question, and it's probably a dumb one. The shop that did my alarm didn't leave much slack on the power cable, and I really do not want to replace it. Pretty much every terminal installation I've seen for Tiburons has the battery cables hanging off the side of the battery. But, I don't think I'd be able to get the alarm cable to stretch that far and was wondering if it would be OK to rotate the positive terminal so the cables hang off the back of the battery, like this: The negative cable is in the orientation I always see cables, and the positive one would be rotated like that. Would everything still fit OK if I did it that way? Also, I've never replaced terminals, but consider my self somewhat competent with wiring. Before I screw something up, I just want to make sure that for the stock cables, I just chop off the stock terminal, strip a bit of insulation off the cable, and connect it to the terminal, correct? I don't see that being a problem as long as the terminal is tight after you move it around & that it's not going to be grounding out anywhereJeff
