I just ran all the wiring in my car, and even tried new fuses near the battery. My power wire is pushing power. My question is why when i tap the power wire against the remote turn on wire the protection light on my amp lights up, but the actual amp wont turn on. I have it correctly hooked up to my headunit and the amp still wont power on. any ideas? This amp was working fine in another car, but it could be the amp since it sat for a little bit before being put into this car.

verify that you have a good ground. verify that you are getting 12 volts from battery at amp, verify that you are getting 12v on remote wire when HU on.

Depending on the amplifier, if it goes into protection mode you have reset the protection mode ( if applicable ).

So, pretty much you only get the amp to do anything is when you jump it with the main power wire, right? I would say check your remote wire and see if your getting signal from the head unit. Some amps will go into protection if theres a huge load of power going to the remote port. Remote wires are usually very thin because it is just sending a signal to the amp, its not sending power. Even at that theres a possibility of a short or touching ground wire somewheres. If i were you id test it straight off of your battery if you can. Just cut a few pieces of 4 gauge wire, for the ground and the 12 volts, and grab a little piece of speaker wire or anything u have layin around and jump it once again, this is just to check it straight, cause ur wires ran in ur car may be shorted somewheres. Well, let me know what the out come is.

check your remote wire.  make sure you have it wired to the amp turn on on your deck and not your power antenna
