Can anyone give me some tips on this? I tried to remove the "outer" front dash piece to get at the radio and it didnt want to budge. The plastic was bending to the point where it looked like I might break it.

Can anyone give me some tips?

dude unfortunately thats the only way. ive dealt with acouple that seemed like they would break but i got them after awhile.

just take your time and work one clip out at a time.

hi,

start at the top, upper corner near the radio, slip a panel tool behind and carefully pry to pop the clip free...there are seven, three on each side, one at the center bottom. then do the opposite side at the top also. work down each side, prying against them one by one. the reason the panel feels like it's flexing, other than it is, is because the clips hold on to the radio, heater controls and misc controls respectively. the radio is pretty solid but the heater controls and lower control panel do have a bit of give to them...even though they are attached to the dashboard. the center clip should release without too much hassle. when replacing the panel, work from the bottom center up.

Good advice but one other tip to save a scratch is to use a plastic panel tool,,,
