.......... controls. I am trying to replace the factory radio with an aftermarket unit. The odyssey has stering controls, which we are not concerned with. However the aftermarket has no sound when installed. I have researched & all plug information seems the same, wit hno remote amp turn on info. The factory radio shows no remote out, yet it plays the speakers fine.

Any different wiring info I am unaware of here? Something simple I am over looking? Or can it not be easily done?

Thanks in advance.

Did you use a harness, or did you hardwire it?  If you used a harness, a coomon problem when you use that square harne (metra70-1721) is that  the contact pins bend when you plug them together and if the speaker pins touch, it will cause the system to ground out, which will give you no sound.

There is a BLUE wire that requires the remote turn on lead from the aftermarket CD player to be connected. If this is not connected, the OEM amp will not turn on. I believe the remote turn on is the same as the "power antenna " lead.

No shorts in the plug, all pins are straight.

Blue wire? Do you mean on the car side? We plugged the factory radio back in & found no amp wire power up with radio turn on.

Yes we are using the std. metra plug - the power antenna/amp blue is in the end plug with no mating pin on the car side.

Newer Odyssey has no remote or power antenna lead on the factory harness and no oem amplifier.  Factory radio plugged back in and works fine?  This is curious.  I never used a harness on mine so I cant compare.

Maybe its the wrong aftermarket harness??  Does the '01 have four speakers?  '02 has 6 speakers.  Dont know if that makes a difference but it could, if the harness doesnt match.   Check and make sure the speaker leads are matched correctly on the aftermarket harness.

Buzz speakers?  steering controls?  01 odyssey w/steering............ - Last Post -- posted image.

Six speaker system?  Correct wiring on ALL leads to the harness?  You didnt reply.  Just trying to help....       If you can, try the aftermarket unit in another vehicle to eliminate possibility of a bad HU.  After that, get rid of the harness and go to the factory wires.  Youve got the pin config with harness.  Good luck.
