I found this diagram of a method for bypassing most transponder based oem anti-theft security systems.  Have any of you tried such a thing and is it feasible and if it is, what is used to wrap around the key and cylinder?  I have a 98 mustang with PATS and was wondering if it was worth the try.  Any feedback is appreciated.

I use this method all the time instead of the 556u. the nice thing is that you are custom making the coil around the key and around the lock cylinder, so there is no loss of signal from loose coil. The only issue I have ever had is a handful of ford keys when it got REALLY cold would not start. With the 04 grand prixs, if it sees two keys at the same time it will trip the theft code, so you have to use another relay to disconnect off the keysense wire. You leave the insulation on the wire because the ignition senses the transponder with a magnetic field. WORKS GREAT, SCREW DEI!!!

Should technically work with all vehicles b/c it's basically just a homemade amplifier of a tiny/weak radio signal from the OEM key.

The passlock 2 system in the  05 cobalt is a resistor based, not transponder like pk3........so, it will not work. Mrcanngo, i do have  diagram to bypass the system without a module if you need it.

Also will not work with BMW systems....need specific parts for that.
