I installed this alarm/car starter in my 03 superduty diesel.
When I try to start it with the remote,Its almost like the brain does not get the signal.Sometime I hold the button for 2 secs and it works.Sometimes i have to hold the button for 6 secs. Then sometimes i have to push the button fast twice.Whats wrong with this thing? But yet it i unlock the truck, then try to start it,it works.
Any help would be great, sorry for the novel!!!!

I only use Crimestopper units and have installed this alarm before. I have had two occasions where the antenna was defective and causing the problem you describe. What should happen is you press the remote start button for about one second and then the process to remote start is initiated. The lock and unlock only take a pulse and do not need to be held.

I would check the antenna wire to make sure it's not chaffed and if it's not, you may have to return the unit for repair. Just one question.....do you press the remote start for just slightly more than one second and then let go? Maybe there is interfecence where you are trying to remote start it. Any easy test would be to take it to a different location and try the same tests.

This happens no matter where i go.I have tried different locals, with no luck.Whats weird is that the unlock/lock works fine and at a good distance.
Thanks for helping....crimestopper 2016fm? - Last Post -- posted image.

That's very strange. Sounds like the antenna is in good shape. Did you try the other remote? Maybe the button on the remote you are using is screwed up. I have been installing Crimestopper units for 6 years and never had that problem!

There is no such thing as two pulses to remote start a vehicle on Crimestopper units. You should only have to press the remote start button for a little more than one second and the vehicle should start. Sounds like you may have a fautly unit....you may have to contact your distributor and swap it for a new one.
