Hey Rob, glad to see you answering this post, and by the way, it's Tim, but you was close.....been along time so don't really expect anyone to remember lil ol me... The diamond amp is bridged to 600 watts @ 4 ohms and with the set-up i had, gains were down almost all the way and non-fader on the deck was turned way down (have heard someone call this amp a cheater amp before, based off a theory of 10 watts per 1 amp fuse, no idea if that holds true or not but guess if that is fairly true then this would be a 900 watt amp versus a 600 watt like it says). Only reason I considered switching amps was based off of a diamond rep saying this amp would not do the subs justice in a sealed box like it does them in the vented box. Personally I have no idea on that and one of the reasons I'm on here. I've never had a sealed enclosure before so new territory to me. I'm far from being the expert about this stuff, I just go for what my ears like and I love these subs, I just wasn't sastified with my mids and highs so definately wanting more in this new set-up. With the 4" in the dash, I just thought it would give alittle more fill up front versus just the components in the doors and nothing else, plus the spots are already there and 4" speakers are fairly cheap to buy, was just my thoughts. The Explorer also had A pillars that were capable of mounting a Diamond M6 tweeter under them in the lower corners, which made a big difference in the front stage to me, but this Montero doesn't have that room to do that again easily. The last install was all done by a dealer and the check showed alot of love, but the place that did it showed love back in discounts here and there and they earned my trust. Unfortunately they went out of business and I cant locate any of the guys that worked there at any of the other dealers around here, and the places I have to choose from now, well, thanks but no thanks. Probably going to do alot of this install on my own. Now if you want to move down here then come on..lol...Most shops down here are being taken over by punk kids who are just interested in big subs, lots of them, and as much power as they can sell you, which is fine for them, but not me. I prefer my installers to have lots of knowledge, explain things to me, and do quality work, not just throw in some wires, amps, subs, and send you on the way thinking that because everything is rattling on your vehicle due to the bass that they did a good job. Sorry, just venting some.
