Just installed the new JVC KD-NX5000 and it requires a VSS wire. After checking the Rostra site and testing every wire in the green plug I have come to the conclusion that I have to use a can-bus interface. We had a Soundgate canpulse2 in and we installed it. This does give us a signal but now the nav unit believes the truck is constantly going 35 mph. I will call soundgate in the morning and it may be a simple fix. But if anyone has some input that would be great.

After much advice from everyone. Thank you!

Peripherial has a piece that gets VSS,ign, reverse and dimmer. It does not list it as working on the Dakota. It does work and I wish I would have tried it sooner
