ok so i got a question. my friend wants to upgrade her speakers in the rear of her infinity. unfortunatly its the bose system. which means its a factory amplified system. now i was wondering how would i go about replacing them? i havent taken them out yet but im hoping there not the ones that have the amps on the back of the speakers otherwise is it a straight foward swap?

If it is a Bose system I'd be really suprised if it was a straight forward swap.

The only Infinity I ever worked on had a factory amp with 1-ohm speakers installed.  It was the most ridiculous thing I've ever worked on.

If no one else chimes up with better information, try going to a dealer and see if they can get you some information there.

If you, for example, go from a factory 1-ohm speaker to an aftermarket 4-ohm speaker, you will experience some *significant* performance changes..

ok well it is the "BOSE" system.....well atleast it says so and she blew out the rears so they sound like shiet anyways so she just wanted me to replace them cause clean sound is better then what shes got currently. does bose make factory replacement speakers for such an old car?

I'm sure you can order factory replacements through the dealer.

In situations like this... especially with companies like Bose... the speaker system isn't really a Bose system... Nissan just pays Bose to liscense the name and little plastic 'Bose' patches for the speaker grills.  Its a factory speaker system.

Not sure if it's the same on the J30, but most Nissans of that vintage have a high level input amp on each speaker. Jamie's right, a straight swap would have much lower volume. You would need an LOC plus an amp to make aftermarket speakers work.
There is no such thing as free installation!

blast, so just a straight swap is basically a no go. i dont want to go to the factory cause there gunna charge a butt load of money for the speakers(like usual). even if it were to be a lower performing speaker once i changed i dont think she would honestly notice a difference. basically the only thing she wants to get rid of is that annoying vibrating sounds. you know what im talking about? anyways so what do you guys think? f i cant get factory replacements then just forget about it or swap out both of them (with no LOC or amps) and see what she says?

Is replacing the front's also and wiring the speakers directly to a cd player in the dash out of the question?

yeah pretty much. i mean she already has an aftermarket radio in it(which is giving her alternator wine) but will replacing the rear speakers have that big of an effect that she will notice?
