Hey guys,
I'm having trouble with the wiring on my cheap deck in my 1985 Olds Calais. I'm certain I've done the wiring correctly.
Red wire from the deck's harness is going to switched (acc) 12V and the yellow, constant power sire is connected to a constant power source (Both verified with a multimeter in all key positions, and it's what the old deck connected to and kept memory fine.
The deck will not keep memory no matter what. When I turn the ignition on and off and leave the faceplate on, I can see it try and come back on (faceplate illuminates briefly,) then it shuts right off. Any ideas?

If the yellow wire has battery power and the red has switched power, check your black wire for ground. If the radio loses either battery or ground it won't work or hold memory.

Any in-line fuses on your new decks harness?? Or built into the back of the radio?? Check those out, sounds like a fuse issue.

Well I think it's the deck. I went and hooked it up to an external 12v supply and the memory still wouldn't hold. Thank-you for your time.
