hey whats up guys,

im here to try and find out what most installers think about this subject. im not trying to affend anyone or start some arguement. i just want to hear what you guys out there think. so the question at hand, can underwatting a speaker cause significant damage and eventualy blow a speaker ? ive been an installer for many years and no matter what shop i work at i hear two different answers. so if anyone out there has any opinions on this i would love to hear them. thanks.

This isnt really a matter of opinions, its a matter of fact. Underpowering a speaker CANNOT EVER cause it to blow. If you want to see all the evidence to back this up I believe there is a sticky under the car audio section of the forum under the title "underpowering Blowing speakers?" or something to that effect.

The only problem with under powering speakers comes when people start cranking the gain to compensate.
