What gauge speaker wire should I use for a sub with 2000 watt max, 1000 watt rms? The sub is a 10 in. blaupunkt Vw1000  2x2 ohm voice coils. The sub will be in series for a 4 ohm load.

Whatever you have laying around or whatever is cheapest...  anything equal to or bigger than 18~20 gauge.  100feet at WalMart costs about $12.

Speaker outputs are much higher voltage than the 12v+/- inputs and they are AC outputs, not DC, so wire gauge does not translate into better performance here.  Anyone that tells you different is .. uhh.. wrong.

its not the power rating of the subwoofer that will determine the gauge of wire that is needed.  it is the power rating of the amplfiier and the length of wire that  you need to use that will determine what you require.   as a general rule of thumb, i use 12 awg for subwoofers, and 16-18 gauge for mids/highs.

what amp are you running?
