What do you guys think about Eclipse 12" subs? I'm thinking about buying two but don't know anything about them.

Which ones you thinking of getting? I know the aluminums used to be the top recommended ones on here couple of years ago. I would say you can't go wrong with anything that has the Eclipse name on it, good quality equipment all around.

that question is very general but yes Eclipse's higher end lines are very good.

Eclipse makes great stuff... I've always perfered 12's because of the lower end, but 10's can get nasty too in the right box and vehicle.....

a 6.5 inch sub can hit 20Hz with authority if in the right box.
a 10 can hit just as low if not lower than a 12 inch sub...depends a lot on the enclosure

I was going to get two 12" SW8200. But what I don't like is that they are only single 4ohm voice coils. Whatcha think? It's either the eclipse or kicker solobarics.

So what if the coils are only single 4 ohm, find a 2 ohm mono amp, say like the Macrom M1A1500D and it will make a pair of those subs wail. It's all about the box after that. I will not recommend the entry level Eclipse subs at all, the aluminum series for sure, below that not a chance. Why you might ask? Simple, my Canadian distributor will not honour a warranty claim on any blown Eclipse sub. If they decide to honour warranty once again (like their competition who gets all of my entry level sub business), then I will once again recommend the entry level Eclipse subs. I am even hesistant to sell the upper end series for the same reason, however, they are a much more robust speaker and can take far more abuse as compared to the entry level series. So Eclipse Corporate, if you read this, get the CDN importer to honour warranty like your competition does, I am not the only dealer not selling your products for this reason......
Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.
