so i was at work and discussing amp wiring with a guy i work with, and he was telling me that if i have 4ohm load and bridge the channels on my 2ch amp it effectivly 1/2's the resistance again, now this fella is MECP certified studying for his master cert, is he correct?

I am only basic installer certified, but this doesn't sound right. I guess the only way to find out is to wire it up and dmm it.

No, he's not correct.  If you have a 4-ohm load you have a 4-ohm load.  Now if you connect your 4-ohm load to a bridged stereo amp, you in effect place half the total impedance (a 2-ohm load) on each channel of the amplifier.  The amplifier will deliver power into your 4-ohm load at its 2-ohm stereo power rating.  But you have not changed your 4-ohm load.  2chan amp -- posted image.

MECP doesn't  mean you have a clue, has been demonstrated time and again!

Exactly. Now if the guy were a certified Technologist or Engineer then you could start listening to his "theory's"
