Hi. I've got a customer with a 2000 odyssey. It's got the factory nav and a  cd  player below that.  I would like to switch the cd for an aftermarket piece. I was told  that doing so will mess up the nav. Does anyone know if this is possible.

Ive seen more than a few posts regarding this question.  Different factory wiring prevents an ugprade.  I asked my local hi-end installer.  He sends the aftermarket HU and the Nav to a tech - who opens the HU and rewires.   More money than its worth.  Some of his clients will pay to keep the factory options.

Try the site below.  Dont know if they have an application for Honda.  Call and ask.

Correction. My post referred to using factory nav as video. Your question regarded cd player. I will try to find out. Hope I can get back to you with some useful information.

Im told by Installer and Dealer that oem cd player (with nav) CAN be removed and upgraded.  You lose stereo mute with voice nav and lose steering wheel controls.  Can you live without voicenav?  You can get a steering wheel control interface by Peripheral to hook up to your aftermarket HU (a few Sony models wont work with Peripheral SWC).  SWC hooks up in minutes and programming is simple.

FYI - oem cd player is panasonic while nav is alpine.  '01 and up nav is audiovox?

Thanks a lot for all the info. He probably will not want to lose the voice nav but I'll ask him.
