I am doing the same thing you are. The only way I could do it was to use the siren wire off the alarm and hook that up to a delay relay to it would delay the current for about 2 seconds.

is it bad to pulse the strobe lights though

i d rather have something constant, i wasthinking coming off my horn honk caseu that only goes off 8 seconds after the alarm is trigger, i was gonna use a pule timer relay to hook it up so i can ajust the time

what you guys think

If the your alarm does not have a status output, then use your horn output to a pulse timer relay.

you can use the siren output but also use the ground when armed output.

your will need a relay to do this. here is what you do:

siren output (+) to 86

ground when armed output (-) to 85

12 volts to 87

30 goes to your strobe lights.

by doing it this way the strobe lights will not flash unless the alarm is armed.
