Does anyone know where to geta a good Tach signal on this car.  Tried the Blk/Org wire at the sparks but got nothing.  Tryin to learn tach on a Prestige Aps-996a.  Pretty sure car does not have an immobilizer.  Thanks in Advance for your help.

on the 2.4l engine, the tach wire (BLACK/ orange) is at the data link connector under the driver side dash . on the 3.0l engine, the tach wire is at the ecm (engine control module) behind the glovebox, ia a 31-pin plug, pin 5.

i think the v6 models had the immobilizer -- do you have a v6 or i-4?

When you drop the driver's dash down, to the right of the steering column, there are about four plugs.
In the gray plug, there are two BLACK/ orange wires. One of these is tach. I think it's the one that's closer to the middle of the plug, but I can't remember for sure.
For Audiovox/Prestige remote starters, I've had the best results when programming the tach rate at slightly faster than normal idle...........
I like to enter programming mode, start the engine, and release the programming button after the very FIRST parking light flash, before the engine idle speed has a chance to settle down.

Thanks Chris...The ORANGE / blk  at the right side of the column, closest to the column did the trick.  Tach is now learned and alarm goes through the process of Trying to start the car.  All im getting at this point are about 5 or so lights on the dash, gas light, brake light, engine light etc.  They go off and the unit tries a 2nd attempt to start the car.  Any sure fire way of double checking  to make sure this doesn't have an immobilizer..  I don't have a spare key on my person.  I'm actually not sure about  the spare key..My Girlfriends car and this is a surprise.  Any help would be much appreciated on possible trouble shooting tips.

4-cylinder LE doesn't have an immobilizer.
But if you want to be doubly sure, look at the climate control panel. You've got the three knobs---fan, temperature, and airflow---to the right of that airflow selector would be the word "SECURITY" along with a red LED that flashes when the car is off.
Also, the immobilizer doesn't prevent the starter from cranking on Toyotas, it only prevents the engine from actually firing up and running.
It is possible that you've missed (or miswired) the small, BLACK / YELLOW second-starter wire.
There are two BLACK / YELLOWs in the steering column, both with the same size and appearance, so test carefully. One is Ignition 2, and the other is Starter 2. The car won't crank unless both starter wires are triggered.

Thanks again Chris...I believe this is my problem...Diagram Has Starter wire As BLACK/ white.  I have found the ignition wire and will wire it into the ign 2.  Question is how will I send a trigger to this second starter wire.  Remote has only one Start.  Can this be done through the 3rd optional ignition output on the alarm?

You'll have to relay power from the r/s's only starter wire IF you cannot program that option 3rd ignition wire to become a starter wire (starter wire and igntion wires do totally different things at different times, so you cannot use the 3rd igntion wire for starter purposes).

Use a 40A, 12V SPDT 5 pin relay:

85: connection to 1st starter wire (use a bridging wire, as the 1st starter wire will be connected to the r/s's only starter wire)

86: chassis ground

87a: no connection

87: 2nd starter wire of Camry

30: 12 volts fused + (use 25A fuse minimum)

The second Start wire was the problem.   I tied this wire into the output of the Relay goin to the Solenoid.  It works!!! I don't know if this is the correct way.  Does anyone see any problem with hook up?   Starter isn't grinding and everything works fine.  No check engine lights.  And probably the most important observation was the absence of any smoke.  You guys have been great.
