i am sorry if this is a duplicate message i have tried to post this twice now but it never comes up

anyway

i just completed installing a compustar pro 9000 series starter/alarm into my car now the only problem i am having is that the unit is not sensing the tach wire at the diagnosic plug on the left side of the engine it is the purple white wire does anyone know where to find the alternator sense wire i tried to go directly to the alternator and i managed to get to it but there are only 2 wires that i can see and neither test for correctly

thank you for any help

NOTE *2 THE DIAGNOSTIC CONNECTOR IS IN DRIVERS SIDE REAR CONER OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.CAN ALSO FIND TACH IN PIN 48, OF THE ECM (ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE).

Try the tach pin before you try alternator sensing --

Did you try VMM testing the PURPLE / white wire?  What voltage was it?  did it vary in voltage with increasing/decreasing rpms?
