the best thing i would say is get a smaller hard drive because if u downgrade and get one thats usb powered you wouldn't have 2 worry about your batter getting drained BUT if u do decide to go that way make sure thats your cd player amperage don't exceed 500mah because then itt will not have enough 2 power your hard drive, i would know because i have a 6900
If I'm to loud, then you're too old!!!

Keep reading on the transformer - you need the DC output. If the powerpack they gave you is still outputting AC then there must be yet another transformer somewhere in the loop that converts it to DC. That is the info you need - should be X Volts DC, Y milliamps.

Alright, sorry bout that.

5V = 2 amps

12V = 1.2 amp

All the regulators I see online for 5V only hold up to 1 amp... hmmm...

You need to learn to search better :)
Look for the PST-DAA1205 @ http://www.powerstream.com/DC-PC-12V-400.htm
$30.75 to provide 12V in (actually 10-15V adjustable) and 5V 2A out.
Don't say I never did nothin' for you :)
