I'm just curious about something I've noticed. I watch a lot of vids on ROE and have also noted that my TC-3000 does this too. While at high listening levels and higher excursion it looks like the surround gets disfigured. Sortof like stretching but certain parts don't seem to stretch as far. I've noticed that I haven't read any where about this issue. I'm getting ready to switch amps from a 750w to a little under 1700w for my 15" 3000. It's in a sealed box of 1.8cuft. Anyone have any input on this?

It's strobing effects. A properly designed surround won't do anything, but support the big end of the cone, in the most linear manner possible.
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

Should his TC3000 be doing this with 750watts, is a sealed box? He IS about to up it to almost 1700watts! Should he be worried?

Does the sub use a rubber surround?  Many high-roll surrounds of that material "suck in" like that.  Foam surrounds don't have that problem however.

TC's website describes the surround as "high excursion tall NBR". I'm just curious as to the difference in sound the extra power will make.

Well, I put the new amp in and my first inpression is... hmmm. I've been playing with it for the last hour and have managed to shut it down once due thermal issues. it got really hot. must have been the sine bombs I was throwing at it. It only lasted about 10 minutes with the bass mechanic cd. I still don't think it's where it should be as far as the settings go. I played a 100hz-20hz sweep and it kept getting louder and lower until about 40hz(i'm guessing) and it bottomed out. I turned it down and tried it again. It does seem to peak around that freq but it does great above and below that. I have the gains about 20-25% and the bass boost and eq at the lowest setting. I guess I'll just keep playing with it and see how close I can get it to where it sounds good. I'm hoping once I get the HU and other equipment in it will sound better.
