I have a power acoustik ( I know, doodiety, it was free) thats a 2 channel amp. 220wx2 at 4ohms, 240wx2 at 2ohms, and bridgeable mono 540w at 4 ohms. I also have a single power acoustik sub thats a DVC at 4 ohms each vc, 800w RMS.
Now the local audio shop guy said it was fine to just wire each channel (at 4 ohms) to each 4 ohm voicecoil. But i have songs where the bass alternates from left to right and back, so wouldn't this in theory not be too good for the sub? I realize i could just bridge one vc, but i'm not sure what to do for optimal power without exceeding RMS rating.
Thanks in advance

1: Wire each voice coil to one channel... perfectly safe to do that, under ALL conditions, without exceeding the power handling of the woofer.
2: Wire the woofer in series for an 8 ohm load, then bridge the amplifier to it.
Those are your two options.
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
