dei 629r diode goof?

I have a Viper 150 ESP installed in an 87 Bronco. See:

Now I am in the process of adding a DEI 629R Scanning LED module.  I have it in, but something is not right.  The red wire is to a constant (+) 12v source and the RED / black is hooked up to the H1/1 Orange wire.  When I first hook it up, the LED is off.  Then I arm the system and it goes on.  I disarm and it still stays on.  When I put the ignition in the "on" position it goes off.  When I turn the car off, the LED's go back on.  The LEDs seem to go on and off with the ignition key instead of the remote.

Then I figured I needed a diode.  So I went and got a 1N4004 diode and installed it on the (-) side of the 629R (RED / black wire) with the banded (?) side pointing toward the 629R module as shown in the 629R install instructions.  After I put it in, no LEDs at all.

Where did I go wrong?

Well, that did not work.  Now the LEDs are on all the time unless the ignition is in the on position and the system is disarmed with the remote.

Any ideas?  Does the diode need to go in line with the orange wire (h1/1), would hooking it up to the orange output of the xcrs work?  Please help, I need to get this buttoned up.

The orange wire (h1/1) coming from the ESP150 connects to ______

The BLACK/ red (-) from the 629R connects to _________

The BLACK/ orange from the 7 pin harness of the XCRS connects to ________

I know there are 2 diodes in there, could you please clarify where and which direction?

I got it.  Orange H1/1 from the 5 pin harness on the ESP150 to the striped sides of both diodes.  One diode goes to 629R and the other to the ORANGE / black on the 7 pin harness on the XCRS.

Got it, it works.  Sometimes things take a little to sink in.
