is their an easy way to keep the fackory keyless entry and still replace the factory head-unit in a 98 honda civic?

I noticed that the only wire in the gray harness needed is the con. power. The green harness must also stay pluged in then the rest of the oem radio wires can be used to wire a new radio replaceing the cubby hole if no factory cd player is their.

that is how i did one today just because the lady didn't want to lose here keyless entry.  she would rather have the new radio replace the factory one instead of haveing two radios (since the factory one isn't going to work now anyway).

This information was given to me by a technician at our local Honda shop ( please keep in mind that this was given to me from memory and not from a manual ). Factory alarm is connected to the OEM radio via a ground loop. BLUE ( or Blue /BLACK ... test first before operating ) wire has to to be connected to the BLACK wire or ground in the back of the deck in order for the OEM keyless entry to operate. Hope this helps and please post your results.

I tried the keyless entry bypass thing and it did not work.  Maybe I did it wrong.  You said that the blue/black from the green harness needs to see ground from a black wire in the other green harness.  I tried this and it did not work.  Not sure what to try next.  If you have the keyless entry unplugged and no batteries in the remote, do you have ot get you remote reprogrammed once you set the ground.  Any ideas....

Did you try a BLUE wire in the back of the deck ? Make sure that you test the wires so that when you activate the keyless entry the target wire receives a voltage from the DMM.
