hi i have a holden 1988 tf rodeo single cab ute and im in the process of purchasing a set of vx commodore power seat but do not know if this is going to be very hard to hook up.. would i need any extra relays or anything or could i just hook it straight up to one of the accessorys in the fuse box? any help on this would be great.. thanks

ps.. congrats to this forum.. already found out lots of info on other topics that have helped me out in the progress of customising my car.. cheers

is the switch factory mounted on the seat ?

yes it is.. and its only the drvers side thats powered

its going to take alot of work no doubt. what u need to do first is find out what the manufacturers ampere rating is on the factory seat motors (thats the hard part) then i would run the according size wire with a fuse at the battery to the seat there should only be 2 wires to power the switch 12V+ and 12V- and those should be in a quick connect plug hanging by itself from under the seat. also if u want to put a relay on it so they only work when the key is on would be a totally neutral decision based on your personal preferences. if you use a relay just remember to check the amp rating for the seat and the amp rating on the relay.

thanks mate.. dunno how im going to find out though... im new at this stuff.. would it be possible to follow the wires from the factory car untill it reaches a fuse, then find out the amps from the fuse? or doesnt it work like that

i think my first route would try to see if i could obtain a copy of the vx commodore's owners manual. if not check the manufacturers website. if that doesnt work just go to a junkyard and see if the fusebox is labeled. but you should be able to find it online before you have to hit the streets

also i missed what you mentioned about following the factory wires <my bad> if u have access to the original vehicle check the fusebox as mentioned above should be labeled or check the glove box for an owners manual.
