Ok this is going to be my first install of a flip down monitor. I have an 02 chevy malibu. Question 1: Is this too big for this car? 2: If not then what is the best way to install? I read a few topics, but pics of this type of install would really help.

The 10.4 is going to be pretty big but it's your vehicle. Depending on the unit that your installing, there should be a metal mounting plate that the DVD player attaches to. You should find the spot that you want to mount the player to and drill small marking holes where the plate will pass through ( usually 4 mounting pegs ). Once you mark these holes drill them out larger so that when you lower the headliner to slip the metal plate through, the 4 pegs can slip through. Place the player up so you line up the 4 pegs to the 4 corners where you will tighten 4 screws to attach the player to the plate.

Hey thanks Jeff. I more or less get what you mean, but do you know of anyone that might have any pics showing install? If not then that's ok. I think that I might be able to do this. I'm just going to take my time and not try to screw anything up.

I looked under headliner and it has a brace where the dome light is. But heres the question....what do I do if the braces are spaced far apart versus close together for me to screw the wood into the metal?

You don't need to attach a piece of wood between the roof liner and the metal roof. 95+ % of the overhead DVD units have mounting plates with the players so that all you have to do is have the plate (where the screws bolt onto for the actual player ) slide between the roof liner and the DVD player. Do you have a link to see what the overhead monitor you have all has included in the kit, or better yet if you can take a pic of the unit that you purchased ?

Mine didnt come with plates to mount to so I made my own out of wood and they turned out great

Here is a pic of them installed before I got my headliner done
If yours does come with plates use them if not and you think you can make your own try it out
