Amp Racks??

What I do is fabricate the amp rack out of wood/metal/plastic ( whatever ) and when you have the rack made, mount the amp it it and then take some fleece material and drape it over the rack. Fiberglass the resin and then use feather fill & bondo to smooth it out.

The actual rack is not made of fiberglass, rather just the cover that hides the actual rack. Just make sure you make the rack sturdy enough to withstand the bass and vibrations of the road.

Forgot to ask you how you wanted the amp cover to look like ? Did you want the cover to come as close to the amp as possible and have the look of just the top of the amp showing ? OR did you want it so that you can see the entire amp with the sides & the wires showing ?

If you choose the first one, then you will need the amp to be covered in a piece of thick plastic so avoid fiberglass drippings. Then drape over the fleece to get the shape of the amplifier. Soak the fleece in resin & fiberglass and wait for it to cure. After curing take a marker and trace out the opening of where you want to show off the amp face.After the second layer is cured, you can remove the cover and start thickening it up to about 1/4". Take feather fill & bondo to fill in any dips or holes.

If you choose the second option, then you do not need the amp in the rack at all, rahter just fiberglass over the entire rack with the fleece & the resin. Cut out the hole where the amp is suppose to go and do the same as above.
