hey my cousin has a prob. wit 1 of his 2 power bass 12's they're 250 rms an 350 peak hes pushin a 300 watt rockford fosgate 2 channel to them. but the prob is 1 12 shuts tha amp off an it goes into protection mode but tha other sub works fine. tha thing is both subs r wired tha same down to 2 ohms. i think 1 of tha coils r blow but it shouldn't put tha amp in protection mode but i could b wrong. but both channels on tha amp work fine an tha wires aren't backwards on tha subs either. tha 12 will work for a few seconds then it puts tha amp in protection mode. any help would b apprecitated.

Yes you could be wrong. The enamel of the voice coil could have melted and caused a short. Trash the woofer before you hurt the amp.

well not sure what the matter is but wiring it backwards wouldnt affect the sound ... how did you determine the problem did you connect them one at a time... is the amp running hot may shut off due to heat?

yes i connected each sub 1 at a time and no tha amp didn't over heat it was cold when i trouble shooted.

From what i've read, you have 2 subs 'wired to 2ohms', so you have a 2channel amp bridged to 2ohms. I'm sure it shouldn't be a big prob with RF amps, but if they you have 2 4ohm subs it may be overloaded cause you're bridging it to 2ohms. Older RF amps can handle this easily but the new ones can't as much, as far as i've seen.

Try connecting one sub to each channel and let us know. Or series wire the subs for a bridged 8ohm load on the amp. Also, what is the impedance on the subs? Are your gains set correctly?
