Here is a side view of the box I am going to build for my 2007 crew cab silverado.  I have very little clearance for my eclipse 10 so I will have to make the top out of fiberglass.  After the box is completely built I am going to wrap it in matching carpet; I had planned on just laying down the fiberglass and at least sanding down any rough edges.  Do I really need to add body filler?

I believe that the body filler is primarily used when you are going to paint the fiberglass so you can get it perfectly smooth. As long as the top is thick enough you sould be okay without it.

how this is the material you are going to wrap it with, and will anyone see it, using some body filler will fill in all the hole and dips and make it straight, if not you might see dips and other impperfection show when you cover it

I am just going to glue some carpet to it.  Then it's going under my seat where no one will ever see it, no will I care.  Who knows, I may just spray it back and call it good.

This box only needs to be functional.

i would not worry about wasting the time on filler if no one is going to see it, and sepending on the carpet it should be plenty thick
