i recently had a kenwood kdc2035 head unit, alpine type s 6x9s, a sony xplod 1200w amp, a rockford p212s4 sub, and a rockford cap installed in my 1996 mazda protege. my charge battery light ket coming on the other day so i went to autozone to let them charge it. the battery was fine, but then he checked the alternator and it was only putting out TWO amps. so im guessing its bad and i need a new one. i talked to the guy at the in the parts department at the mazda dealership about getting a bigger alternator (factory is 65 amps) and he told me to just replace the old alt. and upgrade the battery, and this should do the trick. would this work fine or what should i do?    btw, my lights were dimming from day one...

Well your lights are dimming because of the system that you have. Your car is a 96. You know if you put on HIDS they won't dim anymore. You can also get a back cap for an additional power supply. As for as the alternator its always good to upgrade your factory alternator with a high amprage alt. This will give you better performance overall. Technically a factory alt. can only output so much so fast. When your using mutilple things at once you divide the power. Like your heater control, Headlights, radio, and power windows if equipped. Word.

"dont ground out!"
